A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fine art is a professional caste program for artists very seriously interested in the evolution of their creative expression. Admission Requirements

All applicants must meet Academy minimum admission requirements. Candidates for the BFA in Art are required to submit electronically a portfolio of their works to be reviewed by a departmental commission. The focus of the review volition be on quality work, technical ability, and consistency. Not all candidates for the BFA will exist accepted. The department utilizes the GetAcceptd.com service for the portfolio submissions.

For transfer students, no more than than 60 credits can be transferred into the BFA plan. For electric current FIU art students who are interested in the BFA programme, no more than 60 credits can be earned at the time of application deadline (February 15 for Fall / October xv for Spring).

Portfolio Requirements:

Option 1

• 5 images of observational drawings and/or figurative drawings.
• fifteen images representing skill and creativity in the applicant's desired studio focus such as Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Ceramics, and Printmaking.

Option 2

• 20 images of bidder's best artwork representing skill and creativity.

Portfolios are reviewed by a committee of kinesthesia members. Once admission decision is made, applicants will exist notified shortly subsequently.

Bookish Standards

To progress into upper-division BFA in Fine art Major courses, students must complete the four lower division foundation courses (12 credits) with a minimum GPA of 2.75 or greater in two attempts or fewer.

These courses include:

  • Art 1201C 2D Design
  • ART 1203C 3D Design
  • ART 2300C Outset Cartoon
  • Fine art 2330C Commencement Effigy Cartoon

Drops later the add/driblet period, which event in a DR grade are considered an attempt in the course and count as an unsuccessful enrollment. Students who exercise not satisfy this requirement will exist brash to change major to other degrees such as BA in Art History or BA in Interdisciplinary Studies.
